Press: Sports Business Journal
Sports Business Journal featured an article this week on championship rings of years past and exactly what goes into the making of a piece of sports history. Jason of Beverly Hills had the honor of designing and manufacturing the two recent back to back championship rings for the Los Angeles Lakers and was featured in the article alongside other great designers such as Tiffany's who designed last years Super Bowl ring for the Saints.
Every year, a handful of the best jewelry manufactures in the business vie for a chance to be ones to create rings for the league champions of each sport. Once the bids go in, its all about style and substance to see who's design comes out on top. In the article, Tim Harris, the Lakers senior vice president of business operations says, "Dr. [Jerry] Buss got him in the room, but Jason impressed us beyond anything else we saw. Everybody wants to do your ring. He just did such a great job on the first one that it wasn't a hard decision on the second."

President Obama Honors the World Championship Lakers
Washington (AP)- President Barack Obama has welcomed the NBA champion Angeles Lakers to the White House. An avid basketball fan, Obama says no team exemplified excellence on the court more than the Lakers did last year in winning their 15th league championship.
Obama said Monday he was especially excited to meet Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who has won 10 championships, though he didn't hesitate to remind the team that six of those victories were with Obama's hometown Chicago Bulls.
During the visit, Kobe Bryant presented Obama with a Lakers jersey emblazoned with his name, along with the Number '1' on it.
Obama commended the players not only for their athletic achievements, but also their work off the court. The players held a fitness clinic for Washington-area school children Monday, and several players are donating money to relief efforts in Haiti.
I wonder if they will make an honorary Laker ring for the president...? ~vK

2009 Lakers Championship Rings

Making of the Lakers 2009 Championship Rings
The Los Angeles Lakers celebrate their 15th championship win in style this year with a little help from celebrity jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills. To mark this monumental achievement for the franchise, they opted to select a fresh, new designer to unveil a championship ring like none other.
While breaking from the norm in terms of style and execution, Jason of Beverly Hills utilized his vast expertise in creating statement making pieces for the stars. With a clientele of more than 300 professional athletes to date, the famed jeweler set out to design a ring that was both unique and significant to the Lakers dynasty.
A special batch of 15 karat yellow and white gold was used to commemorate the 15 historic championships for the Lakers franchise. For the first time in championship ring history, each player is immortalized with their face and jersey number on their respective piece using rare, state-of-the-art laser technology. Fourteen round brilliant white diamonds surround a centered championship trophy also signifying the 15th victory. One unmistakable feature of the rings is a unique shape that is inspired by the Lakers home arena, The Staples Center.
Representing the new generation of fine jewelry making, Jason of Beverly Hills upheld their standard of expert craftsmanship, superior diamond quality and cutting edge design. “Championship rings were desperately in need of a new and fresh direction, every ring began to look the same” says Jason Arasheben, CEO of Jason of Beverly Hills. “As a personal jeweler and friend to a number of professional athletes, I know what the players want. We chose a design that reflects the LA lifestyle which is bigger and flashier while maintaining an element of class”.
At this years unveiling ceremony, each ring was hand delivered by Jason of Beverly Hills in custom boxes, complete with a rotating platforms to display the rings under LED lights.
