Dancing With the Stars pro, Karina Smirnoff and new fiance, MBL pitcher Brad Penny held on to the news of their engagement for as long as they could before making the big announcement over the weekend.
Penny actually put a ring on it over a month ago, in what Smirnoff describes as a "conspiracy" between Brad and her manager. They lured her to a restaurant saying that she was to meet with the owner of Twitter after a taping of DWTS.
In an interview she states, "We went to this restaurant and [my manager] got on her phone and said 'this guy is killing me,' and got up and walked away, Then Brad walked in and it still didn't register. He got down on one knee and he opened the box and I said, 'Thank you'. I honestly didn't expect it."
And what was in the little black box? A jaw dropping 4.5 carat Asscher Cut diamond ring made by Jason of Beverly Hills.
The news was just as surprising to Jason who was tapped by Penny months prior to make the engagement ring. At the time, Penny did not disclose who the ring was for, but went through great lengths to get the perfect one.
Karina isn't the first of the DWTS crew to be blessed with a piece of JBH bling. Last years champion Nicole Scherzinger, Chad Ocho Cinco, Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy all went home with custom Jason of Beverly Hills pieces.
Who needs the disco ball trophy when you've got one on your finger?
