A few months ago I was asked to write a review of what jewels to expect to be worn on the red carpet of the 2012 Golden Globes. Sounds like a great opportunity right? 
Well, after I did some research of past Golden Globes, boredom quickly gave me an open handed pimp slap in the face. I realized that I was wasting my time on this particular award show. 
I felt like I was studying 5th grade history all over again. Decrepit old ladies walking down the red carpet wearing the same style jewels my great grandmother wore to my grandmothers wedding. The jewels were flat out boring. 
Don't get me wrong, many of the pieces were made with amazing attention to detail and flawless craftsmanship, but I like to be surprised and inspired by something I haven't seen before. 

I'm officially turning my efforts to the Grammys. That's more my cup of tea! What do you think? -JA

Nicki and Ricky Do MAC: Viva Glam

Color me GLAM!

Nicki Minaj is pretty in pink pleather, while Ricky Martin is "living la Viva Glam" in the latest campaign for MAC Cosmetics. The twosome (Minaj à deux?) are among a star studded list of brand ambassadors for the Viva Glam Collection, which is not only one of the hottest line of cosmetics on the market, but also supports the MAC AIDS Fund. All proceeds from the sale of these products go directly to the charity.

Lady Gaga's Diamond Teeth Implants

Mother Monster, Lady Gaga will have her fans chanting "Show Me Your Teeth" after news of the pop star's recent request for diamond dental implants.
Although I had to scratch my temple on this one (per usual), I don't believe that her latest look will draw any comparisons to Lil Wayne and his famous iced-out grill. Nonetheless, Gaga has reportedly put in an order for marquis diamonds to be implanted in her teeth for the upcoming Thierry Mugler fashion show this month in Paris.

Monsters around the world (and I) have been salivating for a new banger from Lady Gaga, and here it is...
The remixed track, off of her upcoming album "Born This Way", was featured during the House of Mugler fashion show at Fashion Week in Paris.

Jackie O's Signature Pearls Up For Auction

Former first lady Jackie Onassis has held her rank as a fashion icon for decades with her classic ensembles and the all important signature accessory: Pearls.
This Sunday, August 15th, a three strand pearl necklace, previously owned by Jackie O is up for auction as part of Bonham's Pioneers of Popular Culture sale. The auction will also include iconic pieces such as an Abbey Road Studios' piano, played by The Beatles and Pink Floyd and an electric Solidbody Stratocaster guitar by Fender worth £25000- £35000.
Off popularity alone, Bonhams is expecting to fetch a pretty penny for the pearl necklace that can be seen worn by the first lady in countless photos. It even comes in its original Sotheby's box and carrying pouch and is expect to sell for around $39,672 and $55,541.
The real story is that the necklace is from a set of faux babbles that Jackie wore regularly as she was known to misplace her jewels from time to time. Their actual worth is said to be around a few hundred dollars.

McQ Spring/ Summer 2010 Collection

With every electrifying show, bad boy designer Alexander McQueen jolted the fashion world out of a sea of comatose couture.
He showed us that creepy could be sexy (long before Gaga).
He shocked us, confused us and even scared us at times, and we liked it.

McQueen blessed us with one last rebel yell with his Spring/Summer 2010 collection. The punk inspired collection was to be featured at fashion week but was canceled the day of his tragic death.
