We all want to top ourselves. There's no greater feeling than outselling your last album. Or perhaps smashing your own world record. Plateauing is for *ahem*, pansies, and a downward slope is the quickest route to obscurity.
It makes me wonder if artist Damien Hirst is set out to top his own shocking creations or if he just likes to watch his audience squirm.

Jewelry thieves are blending in with society like mild mannered reporters/caped crusaders these days.
An 80 year old granny could very well be making prison her new home for her involvement in a recent jewelry theft in San Diego.
Doris Payne was convicted of grand theft and burglary in connection with the Jan. 2 a stolen $8,900 ring from Macy's.
And this isn't her first time at the rodeo. Payne has reportedly been flexing her five finger discount for decades making stops in New York, Las Vegas, London, Paris, Monte Carlo and Tokyo.
A 12 year prison sentence back in 1999 didn't stop her either. She quickly bounced back in 2005 while on parole to swipe a $8,500 ring in Nevada and a $31,500, three-stone diamond ring from a Neiman Marcus in Palo Alto, The Times reported back in an interview back in 2008.
If convicted of her latest crime, Payne will serve another five years in prison. Really grandma?
There are now talks of a movie about her life in the works to played by Halle Berry.

The final hours of 2010 are pretty much history anyway... You might as well ditch your old calendar. The one that's probably been hovering over your work area for the last two years. The one that's been permanently fixed on the month of January since the day you got it. Who is really in a rush to flip to a next picture of landscapes or dogs in flower pots at the end of every month?
I've come across a few, however, that are enough to give reason to know the correct date everyday is this new year.

The token "wedding of my dreams" is so passe. These lovely ladies are competing for more than just designer cakes and floral arrangements. The object of this game is the new nose, tummy tuck, and double-D's of their dreams. Only in Beverly Hills... As an added bonus, the Sultan of Spray tan himself, Jason of Beverly Hills dropped in to provide some wedding bling to go with their new Brazilian butt lifts. With a deal like that, I can only imagine all of the housewife hopefuls that are signing up for season two.

Nick Knight of fashion broadcasting company, SHOWstudio.com, directed this spectacular video in tribute to the late (genius, pioneer, fashion wizard) designer Lee Alexander McQueen. This three and a half minute piece captures the spirit of McQueen's work through striking imagery and heart-stopping fashion. It honors the legacy an amazing designer who has blessed us time and time again throughout his stellar career with some of the most awe-inspiring couture the world has ever seen.
