Socialite Steals the Wedding Spotlight

She may not have a hit reality show on E! or be married to the future King of England, but Petra Ecclestone may have just stolen the spotlight with the best wedding ever.
The British heiress to the billion dollar Formula One fortune recently wed her "independently wealthy" beau of four years, James Stunt, in a jaw dropping ceremony that reportedly cost $5 to $7 million dollars. The couple tied the knot in Italy at Castello Orsini-Odescalchi, the mega castle where Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes married, and pulled no stops when it came to the extravagant details, including the 6500 dollar champagne-- per bottle.

And Now... A Word From El Jefe

I sit here cool, calm and collected through this thunderstorm…

As the world enters financial apocalypse, gold prices have doubled in a blink of an eye, and diamond prices have skyrocketed 30% in the last 3 months. Jewelers across the globe are growing grey hairs by the minute worrying what customer is going to pay these exorbitant prices. The jewelry industry as a whole is entering a state of mass frenzy. Peek through the windows of your neighborhood jeweler and you’ll find customers picking themselves off of the marble showroom floor with bloody gashes after fainting from sticker shock.

What is happening?
When will it end?
And why do I have a smile on my face?

Consider all of this a much needed face-lift of the luxury sector. Generations ago, a typical family saved for diamond purchases to celebrate a momentous occasion. Over the years, as diamond jewelry became more affordable and quality workmanship became virtually nonexistent, it became commonplace for a 19 year old to walk into a neighborhood mall with $400 in hand and walk out boasting with an 10 karat gold ring with some arrangement of "diamonds" which would be easily mistaken for frozen spit! We are now approaching a new era in fine diamond jewelry. We are beginning to dust off the cobwebs and re-establish the glory days of diamond jewelry as an aspirational luxury item.

As prices of raw materials go up so will the discerning tastes of clients. Customers will be quick to inspect a rings workmanship after spending an entire year saving up to make a purchase. After a purchase, each customers, whether rich or poor, will go home with a new diamond ring in hand, a smile on their face, and that warm feeling of accomplishment.

Finally we’ll re-establish jewelers as artisans not peddlers, and fine jewelry as aspirational not common.

Blinging Barbies

Worlds Most Expensive Barbie by Canturi
(3 carats white diamond and one emerald cut pink diamond)
Ms Barbra Millicent Roberts is a phenomenal woman. She's traveled the world with effortless style and has held countless occupations with only a vague record of a college degree (Although she famously secured a gig as a surgeon and also took time off to be a special ed teacher. God bless her.)
To this day, Barbie is still the worlds most popular girl, and on her many adventures over the last 52 years, she seems to have racked up some big bucks as she's recently been spotted rocking some serious diamonds. And yes, they are the real deal.

Banned in the USA: $1 Million Dollar Supercar

Inhale. This one million dollar, sexy beast will take you from zero to 60 in 3.5 seconds and doesn't even have to buy you dinner.
Exhale. Enough said.
However, you wont be seeing one of these babies in the US for a while. The fuzz, aka, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, has stated that this beauty has not met regulatory requirements to be sold in America because they forgot to child proof the air bags. Bummer.
Not that there are many soccer moms that would actually be car pooling in this thing. Still, any kid who's parents would drop them off on the first day of middle school in a one-of-five whip is earning major cool points.

See why Junior wont be having any joyrides next year in the 2012 Pagani Huayra inside.

When Jason decided against law school to become a jeweler...
"My dad wanted me to be an attorney, to have a profession with job security... I went to the ULCA library to find out what attorneys make the first year out of college, and I realized I was making more than that as a college student, so I decided it was not the line of work for me.
Where he finds inspiration for jewelry design...
"I get inspiration for designs everywhere. I tell myself not to look at any [other] jewelry because you create a bias. I look at nature, cars, luggage, spaceships, and lots of other things."
Why The Cosmopolitan Hotel was the perfect fit for Jason of Beverly Hills...
"I had opportunities at other casinos, but they were not the right fit. The Cosmopolitan had a new approach to retail unlike anything else in Vegas. They have niche brands and a unique approach to marketing that is aimed at a young, trendy and affluent crowd. It goes hand-in-hand with our target.
